Anna Cook Kendrick was born in Portland, Maine on the 9th August in 1985. Her mother worked as an accountant while her father taught of history. Anna was raised in the home of her brother Michael, an actor and later an actor. Anna Kendrick started auditioning for Broadway shows as a teenager at Deering High School, Portland. She was just 12 when she was offered her first stage role in High Society. Despite being a young child her performance was a hit and earned her many nominations and awards. In 2003, she was an actress on a part-time basis in A Little Night Music. She made her film debut at Camp in the same year, aged 15. Kendrick was nominated for her performance as well as for her role in Rocket Science 2007 at age 15.
